To become your dog’s sole provider, you will need to take complete control and responsibility for your dog.  You must be careful during this process if the dog is aggressive.  You will feed, water and exercise the dog on a regular basis.  Whenever the dog requires something, he should have to look to the person who is control of his livelihood.  This means that you have to always be there for the dog to depend on you.  The dog should also have to work for his needs.  If he needs food, he must sit and wait patiently while you feed him.  If he needs to be walked, he needs to sit and wait while you put his leash on.  Once again, be very careful when dealing with the aggressive dog.  You will be surprised at the difference this will make to your dog.

Children can also play a major role in preventing dog aggression.  Children who are playing with a dog and if the dog gets too rough they can cross their arms and yell, “no!”  They should then turn away from the dog and ignore it.  This shows the dog that he is playing too rough.  This is good training for puppies that will be living with children.  Children should also be taught the basic obedience commands and work with the dog to ensure the dog respects the children as well as their owners.
