Arthritis Relief With Magnotherapy
Proof that it's Not "All in the Mind"
There is a strong body of opinion that magnetic fields have no beneficial effect on the pain of arthritis and any apparent benefits are "all in the mind" and are purely the result of a placebo effect. Absolute scientific proof is difficult to find but there are four areas where the placebo effect appears to be disproved with some certainty:
First, the beneficial effect on animals can’t be "all in the mind" Your dog, cat or horse doesn’t know that their new magnetic collar is supposed to get rid of their pain. But many, many documented cases of amazing results prove this to be the case.
Second, tests on fuel efficiency, in scientifically monitored trials, by respected agencies prove that gasoline, diesel, domestic gas and fuel oil all show improved combustion, lower emissions and lower running costs when the fuel is conditioned by magnetic induction. There can be no placebo effect here.
Third, the many documented cases from delighted users of magnetic bracelets and wristbands is a convincing factor in this argument. Lots of people have already found the secret of magnotherapy in the treatment of arthritis, sciatica and related illnesses. Surprisingly, over one and a half million people in the UK alone have benefited from this relatively new technology.
Finally, In December 2004, the British Medical Journal published the results of a two year trial sponsored by The Arthritis Research Campaign into the use of Bioflow magnotherapy on osteoarthritis of the knee and hip.
The report documented this peer reviewed clinical trial in full. The BMJ insist on a high level of integrity in any trial they publish and this is the first peer reviewed trial in the world, directly related to specialist static magnets in regard to pain relief.
Extract from the BMJ Report:
What is already known on this topic?
- Static magnets are widely used for the relief of pain.
- Evidence about their efficacy in osteoarthritis is contradictory.
- Placebo effects are particularly difficult to control because of the easy detection of magnetism.
What this study adds:
- Bracelets with static magnets decrease the pain from osteoarthritis of the hip and knee, over and above the effects of placebo.
- These benefits are supplementary to those from usual treatments.
- The magnetic strength of the bracelet is important.
The advantages of magnetic therapy are:
Small one-time cost: No drugs with harmful side effects: Painless and Easy to use.
